The British Privy Council approved the petition of the Walpole Company

The British Privy Council approved the petition of the Walpole Company (also known as the Grand Ohio Company) to establish Vandalia, comprising all of present-day West Virginia west and south of the Fairfax Stone in present-day Preston County, as the fourteenth colony. Due to the implausibility of obtaining quitrents and the revolution movement following the Boston Tea Party, the Vandalia scheme never developed.
