WVDOH permanently closes Bull Run (Jenkinsburg) Bridge to vehicles
The West Virginia Division of Highways permanently closed the 1912 bridge to vehicular traffic, effective immediately, after an annual inspection found major deficiencies and severe safety concerns. WVDOH said the deficiencies were unrepairable and that there were no immediate plans to repair or replace the bridge. Drivers were directed to cross the Cheat River at Albright or Cheat Lake, and emergency-response routes to the Blue Hole area became substantially longer.
