Masontown residents rally to rebuild their high school
Three days after the fire, residents gathered at the Methodist Episcopal church and pledged approximately $17,000 toward rebuilding Masontown High School. The surviving foundation was considered suitable for the new structure. With the subscriptions, $15,000 in insurance and the foundation’s estimated $5,000 value, the community had assembled about $37,000 toward a replacement expected to cost at least $45,000.
